NEW RULES FOR SEASON 17

CLICK ON LINK ABOVE FOR FULL RULES

·  Extreme Dodgeball Hamilton has successfully installed an appointed Board of Directors. The Board is made up of 5 members, 2 of which are the League Conveners (Shannon & Amaris Langton). The other three members are Mandy Battler, Bert Holmes and Amber York. The board members are long time league participants and will be apart of the appeal process for teams and/or players who have numerous yellow and red card infractions. Board members are also in place to help keep the league a fun and fair environment for all. Please respect them and feel free to approach them if you have questions or concerns.

· We will now be playing with new red balls. “Pinching” or scrunching the material cover of the ball in order to get a better grip is not allow and could result in being called out and/or a yellow card (if it persists).

· “Suicides” or “Supermans” are moves where a player runs and jumps across the middle line in an attempt to get physically closer to a player in order to hit them with a ball that is released before landing. These moves are dangerous and not allowed. The could result in a yellow/red card. A “sacrifice” is a move when a person ,with out a ball, jumps over the middle line in an attempt to swat a dead ball to their own side. In order for a sacrifice to be legal the player must make contact with the ball before touching the ground, must land with some part of their body in the neutral zone and must not at any time make contact with an opposing player. Failure to adhere to any of these stipulations will result in the player being out and the ball being returned to where it was. Deliberate infractions could result in a yellow card.

·  Referee Information Clinics will be run prior to or during the pre-season. All new teams (or teams that did not play last season) are required to have at least 2 representatives attend one Referee Clinic (duration 1 hour).

·  NEW! Captains must provide a GAME SHEET to the referee before the game begins. The game sheet must have the first and last name of players participating. If a player arrives after the start of the game, they must put their name on the sheet prior to playing. It is the responsibility of the captain to see that all names are on the game sheet.

· NEW! If a team defaults a game (click above for more information) they will receive 0 points for the game. If a team defaults a second time in the same season they will be fined $50 which must be paid prior to playing their next game. A team will then be fined $50 for every default game after that. Fines must be paid in full in order to play.  NOTE: Failure to have two representatives at the mandatory referee clinic will count as a teams first default.

NEW! Yellow & Red Cards

·  A yellow card is shown by the referee to indicate that a player has been temporarily suspended from the game and must sit out for 1-3 sets (depending on the severity of infraction and up to the discretion of the referee). During the suspension that team will play with a maximum of 4 on the court. A yellow card could be shown to a player for the following infractions;

1. Unsporting behaviour

2. Dissent by word or action towards a referee

3. Persistently infringing the rules of the game

· If a player receives a second yellow card within the same game they must sit out the remainder of the game. If the second yellow card infraction happens in the final 10 minutes of a game, that player will sit out of half of the next game. During this time the team will play with a maximum of 4 on the court. If the suspended player is not present at the next game, that team will still play with a maximum of 4 players for the first half of the next game.

· A red card is shown by the referee to indicate that a player has committed a major infraction. Upon receiving a red card a player must leave the court immediately and is suspended for 2 full games. The game will not continue until the suspended player has left the court and the team will then play with a maximum of 4 for three sets. A red card could be shown to a player for the following infractions;

1. Serious foul play (a violent foul)

2. Violent conduct (any other act of violence)

3. Using offensive, insulting or abusive language towards a referee

· If a player receives two red cards in a season they may be permanently excluded from the league with out refund (up to the discretion of the Board of Directors).
